It's set in Italy in the 1700s-1800s. It's about a young girl named Teodora di Sangro. She is the daughter of a Mafia boss, and she has a secret. She's a strega, which is a witch, and her family doesn't know, and she mostly intends to keep it that way.
It sucks you in very quickly, the first thing you witness is Teodora turning a man into a music box! Her powers work into transforming things, and she eventually learns to work her magic as the novel goes on. She meets Cielo, not too long after the beginning and thus the epic romance begins! Cielo can transform into any being, whether it be a woman, a man, an animal or the wind. It's amazing. The book also combines politics and magic and it just blows your mind!
The ending is a little sudden but that was the point. It ends in a very good spot!
