First-Rate Fantasy
This book is the Italian version of Game of Thrones with its own original cast and twists throwing some magic into the mix. Lots of details - I can vividly see the story unfold as I read.
Theodora do Sangro is a secret, novice magician - magic is a fairytale of the ancients in this story. She reveals herself to the reader (and her father possibly) as early as page 2 by converting a spilled, broken glass of milk into sugar and a white moth.
Teo’s father is poisoned early on in this tale by another local ruler shoring up power - a little GoT stuff, but with hints of current events it was delivered in a letter. The letter directs the family to send a son as a representative and power chip to the new ruler. Two of course, is to shadow her brothers journey.
I was caught up. Very inventive plot so far. Hope to be selected so I can finish the rest of the book!
