The Brilliant Death is a book I went into with incredibly high expectations and I was not disappointed! Set in a fantasy world inspired by 19th-Century Italy, we follow Teo who has to go on a mission to the capital when the heads of the 5 families begin dying!

The world-building, politics, intrigue, and setting overall are brilliantly explored and incredibly complex, that I felt I knew so much about Vinalia by the time I reached the end!

There are so many important & complex themes to this story that I found were really explored, from family to identity!

Characters (even the villains) are written in a way where you know so much about them and overall they are just so complex and multi-faceted! I really loved them.

One of my favorite character duos was Cielo & Teo! They have such amazing banter and their relationship is so beautifully written!

Its also great to see so much representation! From the Own Voices rep w/ Amy's Italian background, Queer & non-binary rep!

The plot was incredible, not only was it immersive and wonderfully paced, but there were so many moments that surprised me!

I managed to finish The Brilliant Death in just a few sittings and I am definitely looking forward to Teo's journey in the sequel!

The Brilliant Death is a magical, immersive YA Fantasy with a wholly unique world that transports you in an instant! The intrigue captivating setting and wonderful plot, will keep you turning the page.

The Brilliant Death is a YA Fantasy with so much depth and not a book to miss!
