I have to say this is one of the more surprising snippets I've read in awhile and I hope that same sense of surprise carries throughout the rest of the book. I'm immediately intrigued by Teo's magic. How it almost feels like a sentient being. Telling, or guiding, her as to what to form to change people into. The author has also caught my eye by what I'm assuming what will be a rumination on gender and / or sexuality, tied into that of magic, as it's clear from the book blurb as well as within the preview of at least one character having fluidity between male and female.

So far, surprising, I'm very intrigued to see where the remainder of the story leads us.
