I almost didn't read this sample because I wasn't particularly drawn in by the cover (so much blank space!) and because of the back of the book description. After reading the first few chapters, I feel confident in saying that the back of the book synopsis is horribly written. I mean, it's accurate, but it's not written in a way that would have made me want to pick up the book. It was too corny and not cohesive.
Which is such a shame because the book itself is amazing! It is so well written and I cannot wait to read more. The world building, palace intrigue, gender fluid main characters, old world magic. I am here for all of it. But please, scrap that back cover synopsis and do a few paragraph text extract instead.
