I love stories about criminals, and I love stories about magic. Somehow, "The Brilliant Death" appears to have found an interesting blend of the two, which instantly appealed to me. The large di Sangro crime family and the fictional, Italian-esque setting give instant "The Godfather" vibes, as well as Teodora's apparent job as an enforcer. But Teo's powers give a hint of magic and mystery that really leaves me curious to what happens next.
