This was a book that was on my "to be read" list for awhile as it focuses around a Kentucky woman and her love for library books. An inhabitant of Kentucky myself, you can say that I was intrigued and knew I wanted to pick this one up at some point.

After some time waiting on my library hold to come through, I finally was able to sit down and read this one. I definitely enjoyed the writer's representation of Appalachian culture and was happy that it did not reflect negatively on myself or my people.

The blue people was not news to me as I recalled a high school science teacher informing us about the story one day when covering genetics, but it was interesting to see how the character Cussy dealt with it and ways the doctor tried helping her.

I'd definitely suggest giving this one a chance!
