I may be in the minority, but this book took a while for me to get into. It did start to get more interesting, and I did find some parts very intriguing.
The mix of historical facts and the authors story is very enlightening and entertaining. The story line keeps you reading to discover how Cussy Mary survives in a rough time of our history.

The people in this book were very brave. Not only did they have to face the elements of nature but also the closed minded people they were trying to help. I did enjoy learning about these unknown facts in the Appalachian mountains. It really gave me a lot to think about, and I would definitely recommend this book any book lover out there.
