The setting is "high up in the mountains of Kentucky". I think maybe I've heard of the "blue people" but I'm not sure I ever really thought they could be real. I love reading the country dialect and detailed descriptions given. Very easy to visualize the sadness of the living situations and depression they are struggling through.

A coal-mining father (whose wife has died) has an only child: a "blue" daughter. She has found a job distributing library books, but that doesn't please her father. He makes it his mission to see that she is married and will be taken care of before the effects of mining can cause his death.

I'm very interested to read the rest of the story! This preview was just enough to cause me to have many unanswered questions regarding this story. Looking forward to finishing the book.
