A book that got me back into reading
This is one of the books that got me back into reading during COVID. I still think about this book to this day. I loved the setting and how it was based on facts from real people who have lived through the condition of being “blue”. Cussy is courageous, strong-willed, and a genuine human being. I was truly inspired by the way she worked through so many scenarios in the book. She dealt with heartbreak, betrayal, loss, and so many other tough issues.
This is a book that I will never forget and that I will recommend at any chance I get.
Junia really makes the story as well. Her stubbornness had me cracking up and provided some comic relief. I just could not fathom being a book women and having to go on those long rides into scary terrain and dealing with who knows what along the way. It goes to show the power of books and how much one book woman can accomplish despite all the barriers stacked against her.
