The cover for this book is quite striking. It immediately caught my attention when I was scrolling through my options. I think it’d get me to stop if I was in a bookstore as well. I also believe it’s evocative for the content inside. It hints at the time period, the subject (books being carried on the cover) and even more subtly it hints at the other factor in the novel, through the use of the transparent blue swatch over the middle of the cover.
The Book Women of Troublesome Creek is based on real people. That’s somewhat hard to believe, if you’ve never heard of these people or their condition before, but it’s absolutely true. And it can be quite amazing.
In a way I think the fact that it’s based off of real people and real events makes the book feel a bit heavier at times. You never want to picture a real person going through horrible life events, for example.
The first look at this novel was amazing. It was compelling, and I was immediately drawn into the characters and their well being. That made one of the scenes in particular a little tough, but now I just hope for a better life for her.
I’m so anxious to see what happens next. I can’t wait for the release!
