Right from the first few pages, Cussy Mary Carter's character draws readers in like a moth to a flame. Set in 1930's Kentucky's Appalachian Mountains, the book weaves a tale of the poor folks who reside here and a thirst for knowledge. Anyone who loves history and especially of this region of our beautiful country, will want to devour this book. I can't wait to read in its entirety.
