A very interesting blue-skinned heroine!
This book is already so interesting! I had no idea there were blue-skinned people in the world, let alone real ones that grew up in Kentucky. Since this book is based on a true story, I feel like I'm already learning a lot.
Aside from that, I already love Cussy's character. She is strong, smart, and clever. She was able to get herself a job bringing books to people in Kentucky, even though no one would have thought she'd be hired since she had blue skin and was a girl.
She is fighting for her rights to make her own choices, and that is something I can completely respect and also understand. I love reading about this time period in American history and I think reading about Cussy's experience will be a great way to learn more and have an enjoyable reading experience.
