I really enjoyed a sampling of this book. Young girls who like to read - love it. Angry little girls who are given a second (or fifth) chance at happiness - I'm in. A story focused on four women at various stages of their lives - let's do this!

The book starts off focused on Sarah as a young girl learning that she can hear and experience books in ways others can't. Sarah makes an appearance later as the town librarian. Then the story shifts to Grace, starting when she's about 10 years old and going to live at a new foster home with her sister. Grace is the problem child and Hannah can do no wrong, and Grace is worried about them being split up. They are taken to the home of Ms. Giano who comes across as more than she seems. Then the story cuts to Grace as an adult, moving to the town where Sarah grew up, and the two end up living across the street from each other.

I look forward to seeing how these two lives intersect and what happens to Grace and Sarah, both people I'd like to get to know better.
