The Book Charmer reads like a fairy tale. Books speak to Sarah Dove, literally. When she grows up, she becomes the town librarian. She seems to have a sixth sense about her. On the other hand, Grace has lived a life of want. As a foster child, she is passed from house to house until finally being paired with Mama G. Luckily, Mama G. agrees to take both Grace and her sister, Hannah. Hannah is said to be the good girl. Fast forward 18 years, and Hannah is no longer the golden child. Things have changed and Grace and Mama G., along with Hannah's daughter, Daisy, move to Dove Pond. This is the setup for the rest of the book. I believe that books will play a very important role in Grace and Daisy's lives, helped along by Sarah. The book reads is very charming, as it weaves the story of these two very different girls, now women, and I look forward to seeing how their acquaintance will grow from neighbors to friends, helped along by the magic of reading.
