Like reading my childhood!
The opening pages of this book are like I'm reading about my own childhood... I wasn't sure when I first saw it that this would be my cup of tea, but after reading the excerpt, I know I have to read this book.
Like Sarah, I grew up in rural North Carolina, going to the library all the time. The only difference is I was an only child and read in a hammock under spreading beech trees instead of leaning against the trunks hiding from six sisters. I connected immediately with Sarah - with her love of books and desire for adventures. It would have been my dream as a child to hear voices from the shelves as I roamed the stacks of my library.
I'm so intrigued by this story now, and the fact that it is first in a series makes it even better. It seems to have hints of magic and an element of the fantastical that will always draw me to books I might not otherwise choose.
