I love and appreciate the writers of a different ethnicity than my own for often opening windows to new visions for me. This writer is no exception and I looked forward to the magic carpet ride that the sample hinted at. Her writing is without a doubt very good. I do occasionally enjoy a side of magic in a well written tale and I am a fan of history.
The problem began when, for me, the magic carpet ride seemed to tap on the brakes and I felt my interest wandering and the reading became a bit of a chore. To be fair to an obviously talented author perhaps the holiday season with it’s distractions and seasonal maladies and sniffles is not the ideal time for the most intense immersion into a novel for the purpose of review.
