So let's start off with the cover. It was a tad outdated in my opinion. I'm not sure if it's the illustrations or the coloring and text .... or both. It just did not catch my eye at all. The title did on the other hand. And because of that, I did decide to read it.
I am still having a hard time figuring out what "genre" this book would fit into it. It honestly touched down on a few different genres, so let's just say it's a bit of .. everything?
The Bird King follows main characters - Fatima and Hassan. The book sets you off into this .. fantastical world. The author truly does a great job describing the scenery. His writing was beautiful, and I found it easy to envision the land / world.
The book was slow-paced at times, but if you power through, you'll be rewarded with a great story.
