I really enjoyed this fantastical look into the era of the Spanish Inquisition. I have not read anything set in this time frame, so it was a nice change of pace. The characters are well written and the action gets good near the end of the book. There was a slow build up in the beginning, but it was still engaging. G.Willow Wilson's writing style is very lyrical and flows very nicely. I like the inclusion of the magical world in the novel as it blended beautifully with the landscape and historical elements of the novel. Hassan and Fatima are likeable which allows you to be drawn into their flight/plight. Luz is a good villain, and I'm glad she makes appearances throughout the novel. Definitely worth the read!
