Okay, so I already like Fatima. She seems collected and seems to actually think. But her words convey a yearning for a different life. And that's kind of heartbreaking. So I like her, so far anyway. Although some of the girl-hate in the beginning gave me a pause, I think this shaping up to be a really good novel.
Also, I can already tell her friendship with Hassan is going to be great. I love strong friendships and this seems to be one that I will get behind. Immediately. Plus, the synopsis of the book promises an element of magical realism? And I am so there.
