I'm a big YA fan, and follower of the YA genre. Lately, however, so much of the genre seems to be bogged down with the same story, plot line, characters. Then comes along "The Belles," which has changed up the game, and provided a new, fresh take on YA. Clayton writes incredibly diverse, vivid characters, and an incredible diverse setting. I know little to nothing about New Orleans. But, the way Clayton writes paints a magical city of 'old world' New Orleans that's beautiful to imagine and easy to picture in your mind's eye. And, of course, there's an incredible plotline - filled with magic, adventure, betrayal, and an incredible sisterhood bonding that is tested, but prevails. Can't wait for more!
