I'm a huge fan of dystopian type novels and Dhonielle Clayton mastered this genre beautifully. It was disturbing, suspenseful, and downright captivating.
The characters were written well and I connected with them easily. Camellia and her sisters are known as the Belles, people who are revered and can control what beauty is. When Camellia becomes the favorite, she's over the moon; that is until secrets start revealing themselves and true intentions break the surface.
The plot was vivid; I could see each and every detail Clayton put into this world. I was intrigued and by the end, hanging on the edge of my seat. The overall pace of the book seemed slow at times, but it didn't detract from from the story itself. I definitely cannot wait to dive into the next installment.
