This book has received some amazing promotion through social media and book reviewing sites so I had some concerns about the let down if it was as amazing as all of the early reviews. My concerns were not necessary. This book was wonderfully written, descriptive, and came to life on the page. And will be my, along with many, many others, favorite book of 2018--and there are a lot of great books on my TBR for 2018.
Importantly, there's more to this book than a world where these young girls are in charge of beauty--it speaks to values within our society, society norms, and perhaps an industry that thrives in women and girls seeking to be beautiful. A commentary on today, as well as an intense and mysterious fantasy world.
