This book reminds me of Jane Eyre, a book I didn’t love, but appreciate. It also reminded me of To Kill a Mockingbird, the setting of To Kill a Mockingbird to be exact- southern, 1930’s ish. What I loved about this book were the characters. They were elegant, strong, and awesome, characters I would’ve loved to be, characters I looked up to, characters I remembered long after I finished the book (around 3 years ago). I look up to them, and for a while even tried to mimic their behavior (which didn’t end up well for me haha). The book took me on a journey, made me laugh, cry, and made me experience second hand embarrassment, and I loved every second of it. I loved the feelings it evoked in me, the memory of it making me feel strong. The plot was well done, and the execution of the book? Phenomenal. I would definitely reread this book, and I’m getting the second one soon.
