The Belles has really great world-building, and I'm really excited to read the second book in this series.
The villain is really easy to hate, but I do have some concerns about the constant ableist slurs leveled against her. They made me uncomfortable, and I just wish that they weren't present. I'd be able to enjoy this book so much more then.
There are so many great messages going on in this book, and I'm excited to see where Dhonielle Clayton takes it in her next book.
I also have some concerns about the queer rep in this book, including the trans rep and some instances of burying your gays. Other than that though, this book was pretty damn great.
I really hope the sequel has less of these problems.
