Colorful but Bland
I had high hopes for this novel and anticipated it for about 3 years before it was released. Back then it didn't even have this gorgeous cover yet but the storyline intrigued me. Unfortunately most of the story fell flat. The pacing of this story is absolutely dreadful and I found myself putting down this book to go read other stories and then come back to this one.
The dialogue was overly flowery with highly detailed descriptions of everything Camille ate and every beauty product she used. The entire first half of the story felt like filler until it really took off at the end. All these descriptions would make for a beautiful visuals if they were to adapt this novel to a movie for Freeform or Disney's streaming service. But reading them over and over again during the story was a chore. Our lead also wasn't fleshed out enough for my liking. I didn't get a true sense of her outside of her vanity until the last few chapters. The concept is interesting and there's alot that could be done with this story but I don't think I'll stick around for book 2.
