This beautifully written slow burning novel had me doubting it in the beginning and leaving me pleasantly surprised in the end. The world created in The Belles is absolutely stunning! A unique and magical world set in a fantasy New Orleans where unique beauty is coveted above anything else and a very relatable main character is discovering the ugliness of the world she's been living in.
Like all slow burning stories, my only major complaint is that it finally started to get really good at the end of the book. The sole purpose of this first book in the series was to set up the world and develop the characters to dive into their story in the next book and now I cant wait for the sequel...
I really fell in love with this gorgeous world, the great characters and their friendships, and im desperately awaiting their adventure!
