The hard part about a fantasy excerpt is that there is so much world building that has to be done, and this excerpt, while interesting, is also a little confusing because there is so much we don't know about the world yet. The story dives right into what is apparently a pinnacle moment of the main character's life thus far, and it's clear that she thinks the stakes are quite high. I think this has the potential to be an interesting story about the role of beauty in society.
