I have to start this review with saying that in the very first page they mention a "teacup elephant." How amazing would it be if that were a real thing? I'd be sorely tempted to keep a teacup elephant the way I would a teacup pig!

This story starts with some truly decadent descriptions of an alternate New Orleans. Our main character is being driven in what I can only imagine is a glass version of Cinderella's carriage to be shown off to royalty. You are immediately put in mind of a fairy tale. What makes this story stand out, though, is the idea that while Camellia seems to have everything she's ever wanted, this is no real fairy tale.

I'm excited to see the twists and turns to this story take more shape.
