I've been eagerly anticipating this book since I heard about it several months ago. While this excerpt is only sixteen pages long, it was more than enough to instantly hook me! The exquisitely detailed scene illustrates the complex world of Orleans, where the citizenry's only hope to attain beauty is through the Belles. Camellia is obviously a determine young lady, and I can't wait to see how her character develops. My favorite part about this though, is that it's already apparent that this story is going to be an exploration on society's obsession with physical appearance. I'm even more excited to read this now!
