The cover and the extra flourishes at the beginning of each chapter are lovely and really draw the reader into the book. In addition, I love books set in New Orleans. The first two chapters provide a good introduction to the characters I'm sure the reader will get to know better during the course of the novel. I definitely want to read this one.
