What amazing descriptions! The opening pages had my mouth watering with all the descriptions of food, like "melting cherries" and such. I'm instantly hooked just because of how beautiful of a world Dhonielle Clayton has written. I feel Camellia's need to be a favorite Belle as much as she does. I loved the descriptions of the arcana and how beauty defines the world.
I've been excited to read The Belles since I first heard it announced on Twitter more than a year ago and now that I've gotten to read the first two chapters I'm absolutely going to need a copy of this book in my hands. I have a feeling it's going to make its way to the top of my Favorite Books list!
The cover was one of the first few things that drew me to the book, because a book about how beauty is important and how these Belles decide what's beautiful has a black girl front and center (and looking amazing!) is the best thing to see.
