I want to preface this by saying, I didn't realize there was a first installment of this series. I didn't even realize that this WAS a series! I went into this book thinking it was a stand alone, and although you CAN read it as such, these books would best be consumed in the order in which they were written. I felt like this one was lacking..... something.... and it may have been because I was not reading them in order.
I felt like there were some back details that were missing, or something just wasn't jiving as much as I would have liked it to.
Overall, I felt like this had the potential to be a good read, and a good series to get into. I feel like it wasn't advertised as a "sequel" very well, and thus I was confused when I received the book. I would have read the first one first, had I known. Only after reading and finding out it was book number two did some of it make more sense (that I had missed some things that were only in the first book.)
