I liked it!
The Bell in the Fog is a queer mystery novel that takes place in the 50s during the height of the Lavender Scare. The main character Evander (Andy) Mills, is a gay detective, trying to solve a blackmail case, while mysteries of the past unravel around him.
I loved this book! It was very well paced and entertaining. I love the inclusion of queer and POC characters. In my opinion, the main characters were pretty well defined and crafted. I wish that the book was a little longer, because it would have benefited from a bit more plot towards the end.
The ending felt a bit rushed. The reasoning that is given when the twist is reveled makes sense, but it would have been great to have some more plot to make the final moments a bit less random.
Overall this was a great book, and I would happily read it again. I like the relationships (both platonic and romantic) between Andy and the crew at The Ruby.
