This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2023 and it did not disappoint! Like the first book, we find Andy at a bit of a low point, struggling to make it as a PI due to the lack of trust from the queer community. But he is slowly making money and friends. I loved all the side characters that got introduced and the night club setting. Of course, the new case is also fantastic. It takes so many twists and turns, starting as what seems like a simple blackmailing case but quickly the stakes are raised. I loved the return of the mysterious, which creates so many opportunities for tension, angst, and character growth. And Andy definitely grows a lot this book. He becomes much more confident in his queer identity and the life he wants to build in the queer community. However, this life will not be perfect. As Andy discovers in this book, he lacks the ability to deliver proper justice. I struggled with that rather depressing realization, and am curious how it will be handled in the future. Overall, Lev A.C. Rosen continues to deliver an amazing book!
