Thrilled to score an advance copy of #thebellinthefog by @levacrosen, from @bookishfirst! Once again, Rosen does a terrific job of blending social commentary and mystery. I can't say that Andy is any happier, working his first big case as a "disgraced" gay cop, but he does seem to be on his way, as he comes to terms with a past that haunts him. An old flame being blackmailed returns to ask for Andy's help. Andy struggles with how the relationship "ended" but he puts his feelings aside. I have great admiration and respect for Andy's ethos; despite how gays are treated in 1950s San Francisco, he endeavors to right past wrongs and be an authentic person, who can look himself in the eye each morning. And the mystery's really good, too. Love the other characters, both the recurring ones (Elsie, Lee, Gene) and the new ones (Helen, Shelly). This is a fantastic series; kudos to Mr. Rosen! Keep 'em coming!
