This is not the type of book I usually read, so I was interested to see what I would think of it. I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would, and the things I enjoyed most were not necessarily what I expected! I liked the historical aspects of it, with a foundation in actual events during World War II. I liked the mystery, which absolutely kept me guessing (and I feel that you don't have to have read Lavender House to understand this one). I appreciated the social commentary, and the opportunity to get a glimpse of what it would have been like to be gay in the 1950s--it seemed very realistic, and yet there was a positive perspective despite the obvious challenges. It's a good balance of all these things--an entertaining storyline with the added benefits of the other components. I would absolutely read another book in this series.
