I had no idea that this book was a sequel until I noticed some of the other first impressions calling it that (and then I googled it, and indeed they are right). I wish it was clear somewhere--the description, the cover, the title, somewhere--that this is a sequel. I haven't read the first book, and maybe you don't need to for this book, but...I still wish the sequel detail had been more obvious.
In any event, the description was really well written and intriguing on its own. But I generally don't gravitate towards thriller stories like this (which is a shame because I LOVE that the story has queer representation).
