Historical novel with promising found family vibes

I love the idea of this historical setting for a detective story, San Francisco in the 50’s set in the secret world of gay bars with a detective from the queer community! This premise alone holds so much promise for adding depth and layers to a mystery which I love. Detective Andy Mills is a compelling central character and the feel of community hints at a found family theme which I love. This first look makes me eager to see how this mystery plays out and how the need to be in the closet in the Navy collides in the story to come.
