I am LOVING the old school detective novel feel of this books first pages. It reads just like the Detective Mystery movies and books that were popular between 1940 and 1960. It's well paced, almost nostalgic in it's feel, and it starts with very powerful imagery of the setting it's suppose to be involved in. You get a clear starting picture of the lead, just enough to hook you, but not to much that you are over whelmed with information. Oh, and the lead is Queer. Which both makes it a period piece that showcases the problems in the 1940s on for LGBTQ+, but also makes you feel naturally in place. So far very well written and I can't wait to read more.
