I have always enjoyed Renee Ahdieh's books so I was excited for her new book, and one about vampires at that! Ahdieh did an ok job of describing the city of New Orleans, it was a bit mystical feeling, almost like a fairytale. I am looking forward to seeing how New Orleans comes alive in this book even more. That being said, the writing made me cringe a bit, and not in a fun way. The formality of the writing, while being appropriate for the genre, made it hard to get to know any of the characters. Her main trait seems to be that she is beautiful and fashionable, and possibly vaguely mysterious. I can't say anything about the main character that made her stand out to me, and we hadn't even got to the vampire section yet!
