I read the first look of this and it took me a few pages to get into it, but once the New Orleans vibe took hold and plot started to develop, I was intrigued. It was fun going back in time and feeling all that flair of the 19th century. I wasn't too sure about the vampires but it definitely added a mystical twist to an already magical scene. I don't think we can compare this to Twilight, it is very different. But I do appreciate that the vampires don't twinkle in this book. However, in the first look I read, we really don't get to see or know the vampires very much. I feel like there is a lot more to this story that would be worth the read, I just worry that the magic and mystery may fall a little flat if we don't get a little more than what was in that first taste.
