Right from the start of this story I was getting pirates of the carribean meets the princess and the frog meets the night circus vibes. All twisted into a beautiful girl falls for a beautiful creature tale with a dark classical twist.
I found the style of writing was incredibly easy to follow and descriptive in a way that had me able to smell the salt of the ocean, and taste the thick humid night air.
I found myself sucked right in from the very first chapter. Celine is a relatable character. Her quick wit and not quite proper ladylike attitude are bound to get her in and out of many tough spots.
I really can’t wait to read the rest of this story. Set in the magical City of New Orleans during Marco gras it has that taboo deep dark magic feel to it. The kind that is bright and colourful while being thick, dark and old school.
