The Beautiful was really good. I’m a fan of Renee Ahdieh’s writing having already loved her the Wrath and the Dawn duology. The setting was what really had me. Vampires in New Orleans was awesome. I’m a huge fan of the Originals and when I heard about this book, I was really excited. Ahdieh’s descriptions of New Orleans made me want to go there (and try the food).

I loved the mystery in the book. When we first meet Sébastien you immediately want to know more about him. Celine seemed to be running from her past and you quickly find out what happened. She isn’t a pushover and says what she thinks.

The ending had me really wanting to know what happens next. So glad this isn’t a stand-alone like I thought. Overall I really liked the story, setting, and the characters. The only bad thing I would say is sometimes the story had some slow parts (towards the beginning) that didn’t keep my attention like the wrath and the dawn books. I read her other books in one sitting. This one took me longer but it did have a lot to set up.
