A great Renee Ahdieh book, but needed more vampires.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore vampire books. I miss the vampire YA genre, so I was beyond ecstatic when I saw that Renee Ahdieh was coming out with a new book about vampires. The cover is gorgeous and the synopsis sounded amazing! So when I started the book, I was happy to see it start off with a bang. But unfortunately, this book just didn't do it for me.

I thought the characters were basic and did not offer much development throughout the book. I will say that the main love interest is probably my favorite character because he sounds and acts gorgeous. But my main downfall with this book was the lack of...vampires. I was expecting more vampires and more action, but it left me with an off feeling in my stomach. I will read the second book, in hopes that more vampires will appear, but with how the first book ended, I'm not quite sure.

Overall, it was a book I somewhat liked, but did not love. Ahdieh's writing is, as always, beautiful, and I loved the world building. If you're a Ahdieh fan, I definitely recommend reading her new book, but if you're a vampire fan and want to read about vampires, I'd recommend finding another book (at least until the second book comes out).
