Can we talk about that opening? Any character who "possess and errant young soul" and calls themselves the "shadowy creature in darkened alcoves" has me hooked. The writing is smokey and gritty and is set in a place rife with magic and history. I'm already in love with Pippa and Celine, they're sassy and know what it takes to survive.
I've seen some complaints online about the cover being Twilight-esque and while I can see that comparison, it's such an evocative cover I think it stands all on it's own. If I saw that cover in a bookstore you bet I would be picking it up to see what deliciously dark story it holds.
That end line, "perhaps I am still human after all" I need to know what happens. I want to know more about this character and if Celine's love interest really is the killer and all that would mean.
