I am a sucker for all things New Orleans and all things vampires, and vampires in New Orleans are at the top of my list. So naturally, I was intrigued by this book as soon as I read the description.

The first line was wonderful, and the first chapter invoked that haunting, romantic quality of gothic New Orleans. However, there was something off about the rest of the story. I'm not sure if it's Celine's character or her circumstances, but I just could not find myself interested in her or what was going on with her. I would keep reading this book to get more of the vampire's story, but if there wasn't more of that coming soon, I'm not sure I'd continue reading this book.
