The setting and topic are certainly well-worn, so hopefully the author can bring something new to the story through more interesting characters. Otherwise, this is just your average YA vampire story, which my bookshelves don't really need more of. I think I could just rewatch The Originals and get just as much out of that. Would've been better had you just amped up the writing and the depth of the characters and made it an adult novel instead.
