Judging by the cover, title, and synopsis, I really didn’t expect to like this book. However, the narrative proved to be rather intriguing. Celine is a strong woman with a dark secret who has sailed to New Orleans to start a new life. She is an accomplished seamstress who struggles to live within the confines of a patriarchal society. Although I wasn’t interested in reading a vampire novel, I would love to continue reading about Celine’s adventures.
