The Beautiful drew me in almost immediately, with the beguiling, mysterious and mischievous Celine and kept me there with the beautiful details of New Orleans and the darkness that seems to haunt it's corners. It's clear rather quickly that while Celine ends up in a convent, it's not her destiny to be there long.
